Finally got around to watching the Singapore GP. But for one car, this would have been a pretty good race. Loved the Webber/Alonso tandem drive. Webber, however, is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! the sanction he received for it. They didn't show it on NBC (not that I saw), but it looks like Alonso's stopping on the track, and Webber's dash out to the Ferrari, were pretty dicey. Alonso stopped at the exit of a corner, and Webber almost got clipped by Hamilton. Nice gesture, neat moment for the fans, but yeah, pretty dangerous, I think, even if the cars were on their cool-down lap.

10 grid spot penalty is harsh for that though. The chances of Hamilton actually clipping him were pretty slim...these guys are just cruising bringing it home. I don't think Webber is a driver the marshals actual think is a dangerous driver, so why is he suffering for something that only endangered himself?

I agree that the sanction is harsh, but I do think it's warranted. Perhaps a fine would be more appropriate.

Yes, it's pretty silly to be running around on track. It was a dumb move, but tossing Webber back 10 places doesn't help anyone....wait what am I saying? He's got no chance at the WDC, so he'll just spend the whole next race passing mid-field cars! It will give us something to look at while Vettel charges off to a 30 second lead. I approve of this penalty!

The 10-spot grid penalty is not just for this incident (he only got a reprimand for that actually), it's a result of racking up a third reprimand this year. I can't remember for sure what the other two were but I wouldn't be surprised if one of then was for the wheel coming off in Germany (as much as that wasn't Mark's fault).

Oh I know, I think the 3 strike rule is dumb though. It's meant to keep the rookies in line if they start smashing too much carbon fiber up. In Mark's case two of his reprimands weren't even what I'd call racing incidents, and as I said the marshals can't honestly believe Mark is a dangerous driver.

The drivers protested being fined at the beginning of the season, forcing the FIA to change the rules so they couldn't do it anymore...

The other two were for causing contact and ignoring a yellow flag.

yeah, pretty stupid place to stop, if you ask me...someone could have definitely been hurt. More thinking about the car that had to go wide, and not Hamilton.
